Suklam Baradharam Vishnum is a famous prayer verse for overcoming vighnas, or barriers. Any endeavor to reach a desired objective may encounter barriers. To circumvent the impediments, vighnas, you begin with a prayer praying that they are eliminated. This is a prayer to the god Ganesa, who removes all barriers.
The word dhyayet should be interpreted as dhyayami, which means “I meditate,” as its meaning is “May one meditate upon.” You are encouraging yourself to engage in dhyana, to visualise, contemplate, and pray. Whom and why should you pray?
Visnum is sarva-vyapi, or all-encompassing. This feature of all pervasiveness implies that he is present everywhere. All that exists is isvara. If he is inside, then the Lord is constrained. If you say he is outside, then the Lord is once again constrained. Yet, if you state that he is both within and outside, you are implying that he is infinite. Visnum dhyayami, I venerate, pray to, and concentrate on Visnu, the all-encompassing deity.
